A great first half performance against what seemed a decent Shincliffe side ended with a comfortable 5-0 score line in favour of United at the break

A first half hattrick from Lewis included a well taken goal, a great free kick from just outside the box and a calm penalty which was backed up by two well taken goals by his partner in crime Jamie - both strikers looked a threat every time they went forward and could have scored more

A big back post header miss with an open goal from Shincliffe and a smart save or two from Jack kept his first half clean sheet intact

An unusual second half with Jude being sent off for bad language early on levelled the teams to 10 lads each after a handball from a Shincliffe player had earlier reduced them to ten - just before half time

A Shincliffe goal against the run of play early in the second half coming from a “non-contact” free kick was followed quickly by a swift United goal from Ben meant the game finished 6-1 to United and a well deserved 3 points.

A very exciting first half was followed by a solid second half with the United boys passing the ball well and not allowing the opposition back into the game - some great game management !

Subs were plentiful on and off as United had an 18 man squad on the day but everyone got on and most came off for a spell

Lots of very good performances from a squad on the day that is shaping up to have a serious promotion/league win chance even though it’s early days

Man of the match was very hard to pick with shout outs for Lewis, Jamie, Josh, Tom and Jack but Harry M edged the vote and took this weeks award for a energetic and creative midfield performance

Great win without one of our star players Alfie missing, so very well done to everyone

On reflection there can’t be another team in the league with 3 strikers like United have right now in Alfie, Jamie and Lewis - and top strikers usually mean goals which usually means points!

Early days but exciting times for Wear United U16's!

Fingers crossed the team spirit keeps going and the togetherness going and have a right old go at this league!
